Our Review
The second-largest ride-sharing app in the country at the time of our initial review, Lyft, was actively enticing drivers with bonuses to switch from Uber. Nowadays, there is more rivalry for passengers than for drivers, and Lyft is increasingly like its main rival, Uber. That is a negative development.
Although the commission structures of both ride-sharing businesses are kept a state secret, drivers in Los Angeles claim that Lyft pays 12.75 cents per minute and 79.5 cents for each mile traveled. The Internal Revenue Service, which is never unduly kind, calculates that using a car for business purposes costs around 58 cents per mile, including the cost of gas, insurance, and repairs. Your net salary should therefore be calculated as $7.65 per hour plus 21.5 cents per mile.
